When Robert Doback (Richard Jenkins) and Nancy Huff (Mary Steenburgen) get married, their grown children meet each other and immediately become enemies. The new stepbrothers, Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) and Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell), are exactly alike. Both are almost forty, jobless, and exceedingly self-centered. They also both sleepwalk with disastrous results. When their antics threaten their parent’s relationship they must each try to pull themselves together and create a life for themselves.
